Topic: Fuel Pressure Regulators FAQs

What is a fuel pressure regulator?
EFI fuel pressure regulator’s job is to maintain a constant fuel pressure above the intake manifold pressure.

Why and when should you buy a fuel pressure regulator?
The installation of performance fuel injectors or a high-flow fuel pump requires the use of an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to allow pressure adjustments while maintaining a stable base pressure. They can also be used to maximise a standard fuel system’s ability to cope with minor power modifications.

How are Fuel Pressure Regulators rated?
Most manufacturers rate their FPRs on their compatibility with a fuel system flow volume. The fact that this figure is represented with a horsepower value can be somewhat confusing. Simply explained, a fuel pressure regulator rated at 800hp (ie FPR-800) will be suited for any fuel system providing fuel to engines with up to 800hp power output.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulators FAQs

I assume that the HP and flow ratings are using Gasoline?
If Methanol is used, do we need "twice" the regulator also?

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulators FAQs

You're quite correct there. Most people use between 2 - 2.5 ratio for Methanol.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulators FAQs

no need for rising rate? i noticed that there isnt one listed in the catalog at work.

Just bought a FPR800 to go on my setup.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulators FAQs

Our FPR series is rising rate. They increase fuel pressure at a ratio of 1:1 per PSI of boost pressure.
